The O.C.ecrets Revealed
Okay, so I'm having a pretty awful week all-around. Nonetheless, I wanted to post pics from the OC set before tonight's episode, but please excuse my half-assed commentary.
Anyways, the title's misleading, no big secrets were uncovered. I was surprised though to find that "Marissa's Lifehouse" is actually a set:
(click on the pics to enlarge)

Speaking of Marissa, have you guys read the NY Post article, claiming she's trying to get out of the show for fear of being typecast as a bratty teen? Yeah, she's apparently doing so by showing up late and calling in sick after nights of partying... much like a... wait for it... bratty teen. Har har, moving on, we have the Cohen residence:

The Irishman with the sunburn in these pictures is my writing partner, Pat Walsh. He got this sunburn after sitting in the shade at Coffee Bean for an hour, at 10 am. He blogs too. Anyways, here's the pool area of the Cohen house. As some of you may know from the DVD commentaries (and if you do, you have just as sad of a social life as I do, let's meet up online and play Soduku this Fri night), these are actual, functional pools, but they are only three feet deep. Thus, the actors have to swim around on their knees. [insert sexual 'on their knees' joke here] Also, all the scenic, perfect Californian skies in the background are fake. Just big painted sheets of fabric, with little pieces of tape placed on the ocean to give the illusion of glimmering water. I'm told nothing's authentic in Los Angeles.

Now, my favorite part of the tour: Seth's room. We were told that we could jump on the bed and take pictures if we wanted to. And boy, let me tell you, I wanted to! Alas, my writing partner still has a little something called "dignity" and squashed that idea. I lost my "dignity" in a pool in third grade.

I let Pat go ahead with one of the PAs and I lagged behind so I could snag some of these pictures. Lord knows I would sleep with that cardboard cutout of Summer every night if I could. Move over body pillow, Captain Oats has some company.

Sandy and Kiersten's room. Where no love-making seems to be taking place as of late. And also Sandy's study. Which I think we've only seen once or twice.

And next is the Bait Shop. Some pretty awesome posters.

Here we have Volchok's room. This is a new set of course, and naturally its supposed to reflect its owner: shady, dirty and rife with STDs. You gotta love the picture of his kitchen counter, though. Nothing says badass like a bottle of Vitamin B-12.

And here's Newport Harbor High School. Where kids learn calculus amongst sleeping crew members.

This was my second favorite part of the tour: Summer's room. Notice on her board, there's actually a picture of her ex, Zach. Nice touch. Also like the framed pic of Seth playing guitar.

Marissa's room. Eh.

The Roberts living room. Notice the nice touch of adding cute pics of young Rachel Bilson throughout the house.

This is a new set they are building of a college dorm, which I'm assuming is for the J.J. Philbin-penned episode she mentioned in her interview, where they visit Berkeley.

And lastly, Mr. Schwartz's nameplate. Riveting, I know. But I didn't want to invade his privacy and take pics of his office.

Wow- flashback to our days of giving studio tours...It seems so natural to see you and Pat wandering through sets...minus the blue suit of course...
how sad, i thought marissa's lifehouse was actually one of the lifehouses on redondo beach since they have filmed scenes there before. too bad i always miss them when they come.
Thank you for those, it's always nice to see pics on the set! :)
Thank you,really cool pictures.
Really cool. Although Im kinda dissapointed that Marissas lifeguard shack isn't real.
really cool pictures!
i did NOT know Marissa's favourite place was fake and not really at the beach!
in fact, everything's in studio!
thanks for sharing them!
Um, Captain Oats? I think you're really cute.
Wow you are so lucky! How did you arrange to get that tour? Thanks so much for posting the pictures - it's interesting to see the sets (I'm also surprised about Marissa's lifeguard stand - maybe it was originally a real one, but then they started using it in every episode so they built one?)
Question - can I link to your blog on some message boards I visit? Like put it in my favourite websites in my profile?
hey jessica,
feel free to link away! thanks a bunch for doing that!
and to everyone else,
thank you for the comments, glad you enjoyed the pics!
oh and to clarify about the lifehouse... in season one and two, it was shot on an actual beach. but for this season, they built this set cause a) they were gonna use it a lot more and b) mischa was getting cold... tour guides words, not mine.
mischa was getting cold??
what's with the rumours that she's leaving the OC.
what an idiot - - that's the show that made her big, doesn't she have any respect. ugh, she angers me...
whatever..
awesome pictures though.
i won't tell you how long i looked through the pictures of seth's room to see if any little pictures of me were present as that would be sad.
ah, what the hell, i AM sad.
i want his babies, give them to me NOW.
(yes, by HIS babies, i mean the fictional Seth's babies, not adam brody's. haha.)
thanks again for the wonderfullous pictures.
you absolutely rule this world
