Musical Monday

Hope you all had a terrific Thanksgiving. I definitely did, thanks to the Kadosh and Langberg families, who kindly took me in. Most of you have no idea who they are, but that's okay, this is just a blatant shout-out. Speaking of blatant shout-outs, I wanted to take this opportunity to tell the blogosphere that my girlfriend is all sorts of wonderful. I know, I know, you just threw up in your mouth. Have a Listerine strip, and let's move on.

I watched a bunch of Friends Thanksgiving episodes over the holiday, and it's pretty amazing how well they stand the test of time. "The One With Chandler In A Box" is probably my favorite of them all. I know you all must be wondering what to get me for Christmas, so I've made it easy for you, just click on the "be my generous friend" link in my sidebar, and click on any of the products, one of which is The Friends Complete DVD Collection. Go through the normal payment instructions and you'll be able to send to my address at the end. You're welcome.

I think the closest we have, or have had, to Friends is How I Met Your Mother. And you all really should be watching. This past week's episode was probably their best episode, and excluding South Park, the funniest episode of anything I've seen this season. If you missed it, definitely watch it on CBS' Innertube.

Haven't had a chance to catch up on a lot of the other shows. I tried watching a Veronica Mars episode from a few weeks back, but I got bored and stopped. Seriously, why must it feel so contrived this year? Is it just me??

The "Stanley's Cup" episode of South Park was pretty decent. My favorite line was when the Doctor says, "Well he isn't worse, but he isn't getting better. It's almost as if his cancer were tied." You can watch the episode here. But before you do that, you need to watch "Hell On Earth" here, and "Make Love, Not Warcraft" here. The two best episodes this season. For you dorks like me, here's an interesting article on how they made that Warcraft episode.

Meanwhile, Family Guy's been pretty off this year.

Grey's has been really solid the last two weeks. Nothing to break out the ice cream and tissues for, but still strong nonetheless. I'm really glad they finally got Christina and Burke's secret out in the open, they were starting to get annoying. And even though it's getting pretty intense, I find myself caring more about the Alex/Addison/Izzy storyline than anything else. Give me more Izzy, Shonda. Please.

Anyways, as always, leave a comment with your thoughts! Click below for the tuneage.

Eh, Vmars isn't at its best, but it remains worth watching for me. This 20-episode shorter season is probably its last, and I remain faithful. =)
Between the network trying to slightly change it, the suckiness of Logan/Veronica (I despise Logan), and the general fatigue that sets in on shows, it makes sense that its not it's best. But it's still the best drama on television for me at least.
Happy holidays. Bye

Oops, I meant "its" best. That's a pet peeve typo for me. It's too early. =)

Ahhh, new music. It's nice to be back in reality after a crazy holiday.

I think.

Anyway, is the New Day link working for everyone else? It's only letting me save as an HTML document, and I can't figure out if it's screwy or if it's just me.

Thanks, as always!

I agree on all counts. HIMYM was incredible this week, simply hilarious.

Kate L.: Sonny just mislabled the link to New Day. Here's the correct link:

Thanks for the great commentary.

Hooray Update! (Hooray Beer!)
ahem, sorry:

HIMYM: awesome, awesome show. I'm glad more and more people are getting into it. I adored the slap bet. "'re gonna cry..."

Grey's: I admit I'm biased, as have a total girl crush on Callie, but the George/Callie/George's Dad scenario is the best plot. Finally George has a temper!

Also adored the use of Damien Rice. Of course, they could play that song over "Show Me the Money" and I'd find William Shatner evocative...

I watched all nine Friends Thanksgiving episodes over the break, and you're right, they almost all hold up. The first season, in particular, always gets better for me. Seventh season is the weakest. Four and six are the best.

How I Met Your Mother is the best comedy on television right now, I think, even outdoing The Office for improvement and consistency.

Family Guy has been absolutely embarrassing since it returned last year. A real shame, too. American Dad, however, is hilarious.

Thanks for continuing to post the VM music even if you aren't watching.

I've loved Alex/Addison since they first made Alex work with Addison so I am all for more screentime, plus I love Kate Walsh. I'm a little pissed at Izzy right now for not at least putting the Denny check in an interest earning account and giving the interest to the heart assoc or something else constructive.

Hurrah! Thank you so much for the So:Lo and Grey's music updates! Really made my day! I also heart Friends Thanksgivings.

I forgot about CBS's Innertube, which is nice for HIMYM since I have to fight for the TV on Mondays. Thanks for the reminder!

On another note, Heroes is still cryptic, but intriguing too. I hope tonight's ep will be good.

Yeah V-Mars is meh. It was one of the best dramas on TV but that Piz guy needs to chillax. They do say (spoiler alert) someone dies in the next episode. Let's hop Wallace gets a 4.0.

Hi Cap't and Happy Post-Thanksgiving Fuzzies!

Great post (as usual)! You are so right about HIMYM; it is such a funny show -- great writing and a great cast.

Like Anonymous (the first poster), I'll hang in there with VM just out of loyalty, but it hasn't been up to par this season. I don't know if it's due to the network, the new castmembers, or what, but something's just not gelling for me.

Lovin' Grey's and Heroes.

Thanks for the Monday Music fix; you made my day!!

Best wishes.

Gah! I'm frustrated with one thing at the moment but first I'd like to start off by saying thanks again for providing me with my music playlist for the week.

OK now for the frustrating thing... I have no way of knowing which songs from previous posts are newly added... can someone help please?!

Hey I saw this past Veronica Mars and it's back to form. I like what Logan does in the end. Moreover, the arc is different this season so YOU FIND OUT WHO THE RAPIST IS.

Yeah Captain Oats, might wanna check it out. I was a skeptic and even I thought it was good. Maybe I should bitch about VM more often.

I think it's safe to say that this week's veronica mars was easily the best ep this season. This may have something to due with the fact that Rob Thomas also directed this show. If we go back to last season we will remember that rob's only direct was "donut run" and this was one of the most wrenching exciting episodes of season 2.

I like how we're separating the season into a couple mysteries as opposed to the season long types of the past. it serves the show better at this point. I'll reserve judgement till next week, but this is the first BANG veronica mars of the year. I'm talking season 1 levels. If rob can follow this up I'll no longer have to tell my friends about how this once awesome show went to the shitter.

watch it sonny and use your holywood connections to convince Rob to bring weevil back on a more frequent basis.

VW this week was so creepy!

I've been watching HIMYM since the very start and just love it more and more. I think maybe just cause I am of a similar age and living in NYC and it really seems to "get" my daily life experience...but still, it's great because it's cute and heartwarming but it's not just a chick-flick of a sitcom, it's dude-funny too. It celebrates the simple cute parts of life. Waaaaaaa

Hey so this is really random, but OMG were you in the party scene in tonight's OC? A shot panned over the crowd and there was a guy who looked sort of like your pics.

Anyways, thanks for feeding my addiction to the Grey's soundtrack, you enabler, you.

HIMYM is my favorite comedy right now - I think last week's episode was the best so far.

Add me to the chorus begging you to watch the past few episodes of VM. The season got off to a slow start, but 7,8, and ESPECIALLY 9 are awesome. Really, 3-9 is one of the best episodes of VM I've ever seen. Well, actually one of the best episodes of any TV show I've seen ever. And thanks so much for posting the VM music even though you haven't been watching. I really, really appreciate it.

I actually tried watching How I Met Your Mother a couple of times, when it first launched, but it didnt really stick. Maybe Ill give it another whirl.

Glad I found your blog, hope LA is doing you well :)

You see my exams start this week, and the music would be very helpful ... somehow. That's my guilt trip for today.
