Goodbye 2006, You Son Of A Bitch

2006, you deceitful bastard. You started with promises of fame and fortune, agents and a manager, new beginnings with a new move... but then you took my money and left me, you selfish asshole.

What have you left me with?

You've left me with mother-f'in New Year's Eve, where I always stand awkwardly at the stroke of midnight as everyone around me couples up for the kiss. 24 New Years under my belt and never a New Year's kiss. This year, my girlfriend's 2000 miles away, so let's make that 25.

Oh 2006, we may have had some good memories together, but you did me wrong.

So come on 2007, shake ya ass, show me what you working with...

Okay, yes, I just had a conversation with a calendar year, what?

Well, here's to a clean slate and a happy new year, my friends! Click on the link below for some tracks from last year's New Year's post, coupled with lots of new goodies. Leave some love in the comments!

Happy New Year from NYC!

Yes! 2006 is finally over here in the East Coast! Thank f'ing goodness; it wasn't a good year for me either.

And thanks for the new tunes! I didn't think you would post again before New Year's. Nonetheless, best of luck to you in 2007!

Much love,

Captain Oats,

I thought I'd drop by and wish you, and was pleasantly surprised to see a special New Year's post!

Thanks so much for the music - in this post and all the previous ones. I know we can get demanding, but honestly if it wasn't for you my iTunes playlist would be a very sad thing.

And most importantly: HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I hope 2007 brings all the awesomeness you deserve ... and tons of great music!

Happy New Year Captain Oats!

I too have felt betrayed and let down by early seemingly good possibly great things to come in 2006!

And though I don't dare complain too much, things could have been better!

And so here is to good things in 2007 for us all! Starting with this awesome posting of music! Great blog-site!

Thanks

Sounds like you need some awesomeness my friend... here, can you feel the awesomeness I'm sending your way? Okay, I'm sending a little bit more. Now do you feel it? Yes? Okay, great. Now run with all that awesomeness and let it take you to the land of wheels and deals, a life of writing, Golden Globes wins, and Greek Island vacations.
You see, all you needed was a little head start of awesomess. Glad I could be of service.

Happy New Year and thanks as always for the tuneage. I personally don't trust odd-numbered years other than ones that end in 5, so I am inherently skeptical of 2007’s ability to bring the awesome. But that's just me. You, however, always bring the awesome to this blog and I have no doubts of that continuing. Also, I cannot take the barrage that came with year-end lists anymore and plan to finally check out FNL. Thanks again and cheers!

How much do I love song compilations? Most excellent. Thanks, Captain Oats! Also, maybe it will make you feel better to know that my New Year's consisted of drinking one too many glasses of my friend's homemade wine, leading to a confrontation between me and my porcelain god. It took a full day to recover from that hangover. Ugh. Here's hoping for more moderation in 2007. Cheers!

Bad news, looks like your precious "OC" is gone! Last episode airs February 22nd. This has got to be a sad day for you...and 7 or 8 fourteen year-old girls.

Let us all stop to mourn the loss of The O.C. Sonny, we will get through this one way or another. I guarantee it.

Oh, who am I kidding? I'm ready to declare this the worst day in the history of the world.

Happy (Belated) New Year, Capt! Can you believe it? 2007! Wow!

Thanks for the surprise tunage! I just dropped by to say hi, and there was a new posting and tunes from you! Me so glad!

So I wonder . . . Was Patrick Walsh having a bad day? Mocking O.C. and all? I usually don't watch the show, but I sure wouldn't put anyone else down for doing so.

Anyways, have a great new year with lots of successes and happiness!!

haha! gosh this post made me laugh so much i told it word for word to about 4 people. this is why you are a writer. well maybe not but this sure makes that fact concrete for me!
am seriously excited about all these wonderful thing you have planned for sillypipedreams! i could almost wet my pants. but i won't. 'cause that's just gross you sicko.
as always, thanks a million for the tune-age! what a spectacular way to start 2007!
i hope you had a brilliant new year's eve with or without someone to kiss, at least 2006 is over!

So The OC is almost over ... it's a sad day for all.

Although I do think that it's time to end the show. As awesome as this season is, I would rather they end on a high note than drag it out for a possibly horrible season five (sorry but the writer's track record isn't great - see season three).

I have an idea though: if it works for you Sonny maybe we could all give you stuff to send to Josh Schwartz in an email? Like a big thank you type email, just showing him that people support him and love the show?

I wish you a happy new year and have to thank you for your great music post on new years eve.

What do you say about The O.C. getting cancelled?

Blogger Kavina said...

cancelled! and just when the show was picking up pace to perfection. guess they wanted a crisp, clean finish then..
do you know mr. schwartz's plans for the future? i thought you, if anybody, may have a clue as to any other shows he may have planned in order to console your, obvious, grief. xx

no replies to anyone's comments.
no new posts.
no comments on oc cancellation.

either you are
(a) in a depressive state of grief
(b) having too much of a life
(c) have decided to hate all of the people that live in internetland

if (a) is because of the oc cancellation - - GET UP AND WRITE ABOUT IT! not only do i regard this as excellent therapy (since you are a writer), but as it's biggest fan and critic rolled into one, all of us are DYING to know what you think! if (a) is for any other reason, snap out of it boy and again, WRITE ABOUT IT!!! any news is better than no news!
if (b), STOP HAVING A LIFE. well, i don't mean that word-to-word. basically, us netgeeks are not blessed with the self-fulfilling life you have achieved outside of the sillypipedreams realm and we are the highest breed of geekness and thrive on your posts so even if you dont want to do it for yourself, do it for us. it will make you feel better than you already do, i promise. it's like helping the poor. except you don't give any money and you don't have to deal with the repetitive guilt-ridden adverts.
if (c).... well.. if you have suddenly developed an incessant loathing for all things blog-related, leave a line to tell us of your departure. i will send a leaving present. promise.
now i'm resorting to bribery. t'is a sad life we lead.
but yeah. come back. tell us of your concert-going, your life-happening. your set-visiting. your music-listening!
yours sincerely,
anon (who is only staying anonymous for the sole reason of avoiding as coming across as a loser that is bordering on mild stalkerage because of the over-postage of comments on one post...)
