Big Time

Hi friends. A little writing career update.

While my writing partner and I haven't hit the "big time" per se, we have started a writing gig on MTV's Rob & Big! Our official title is "creative consultant", which is just an excuse for alliteration, and a fancy way of saying that we come up with show ideas and beats with the producers.

If you've never watched the show before, definitely add it to your DVR Season Pass. It's a refreshing change from MTV's other reality content, and it plays more like an improv comedy. If I had to point you to one staple episode, it'd be the one where Big Black decides to strip under the stage name, "Black Lavender".

You can catch old episodes and clips on MTV's site, on YouTube, or On Demand through your local cable provider. MTV also reruns the show quite a bit. Spread the word!!

Also, my writing partner and I have been hired to write an original horror movie for SCI FI Channel, which will hopefully air sometime next year.

We have some other projects in the works, and I'll definitely let you know more when/if they are done deals! Hope you all are swell, leave a comment!

Hey Lauren,
Thank you! Let me know what you think of the show!

Hi Laura.,
Thanks!! Def check out the stripping episode... and yeah, SCI FI Channel has a very specific formula they follow for their original movies, which seems to work really well for them... so we'll be trying to work within that construct. Will keep you posted on the "deets".

Hi Anon 5:24,
Thank you!!!

Hi Loe,
Thanks Loe, which episode did you just watch? Glad you watched the show already!

Congrats...after the black lavender episode I seriously had to lay down and recover.

Make sure Mini Horse gets the on screen time he so desperately deserves. Big Dude + small horse = hijinks.

Congrats, Captain!! I have seen a few eps of Rob & Big, and def found it entertaining. I will check out the Black Lavender ep per your recommendation. Thanks for keeping us posted - we're all rooting for you!
I'm also rooting for Michael Muhney (Sherriff Lamb) to be cast in your Sci-Fi movie, because that would be awesome.

YAY! Fantastic news! Congratulations. Awesome. (Fill in the blank with adjectives for amazing, wonderful) __________. Thanks for the Sea Wolf heads up. I couldn't make it to the Hammer and will try (for a third time) to coordinate things to see them on August 18th, I believe at Sunset Junction.

Hey Sonny Congrats!! That is awesome. It's nice to see a fellow NBC'er starteruper (its' a word) doing so well. Now on to buisness, will this new Sci Fi movie star Adam Brody as a sarcastic villain who uses pop culture quips to conquer his opponents (i.e. water polo players)? P.S. I went to an advanced screening of Superbad last night...Soooo good. Not Knocked Up good, but funny stuff. Great writing, great comedic performances. A must see. Am I Roger Ebert?

Hey, just wanted to say that Apple / facebook is offering a free sampler of MTV shows (including Rob & Big) to members of the "Apple Students" group... a good way for people to see an ep (for free!) and maybe get hooked.

Thanks for blogging, a new entry from you always brightens my day.

YEAH SONNY!! That's awesome, even if it's not exactly what you were looking for...employment is a pretty sweet deal. And especially employment in your desired career-area. Minimum wage sucks. (But that's my life, so...)

Hi Patrice,
Glad you liked the Lavender ep! Mini Horse will definitely get some much deserved on screen time next season... or at least I think. Stay tuned!

Hey Krissi,
Thanks! Will definitely keep you posted!

Hi Claire,
Thank you!

Hey NYOne,
Let me know what you like and dislike about the R&B eps! And we'll see what we can do about that Michael Muhney casting! (Although a little birdie told me a while ago that he's kind of a diva)

Hi Franklin,

Hey Scribe LA,
Thanks a bunch! Haha we're like the boy who cried sea wolf? One day, we will go to a show, it is our destiny!

Hi The Franchise,
Thank you! Us NBC'er starteruppers must stick together (and yeah, it's def a word). I saw Superbad a while back, totally agree with you on it not being as wonderful as Knocked Up, but def hilarious still. Interested to see if they've edited it at all from the version I saw.. it def needed a little tweaking.

Hey Olivia,
Thanks for the heads up on that! Your comments brighten my day!

Hi Anon 6:17,
I love love love big fans! So you and I are on the same page. Thanks for the comment!

Hey Lauren,
Thanks! Yeah, it's been great being in a writers room with other like-minded individuals. Def makes me all the more sure that this is what I want to do with my life.

I love Rob, Big, Meaty and Mini Horse. Do you get to meet them? They seem to have such a great time together. I love that Rob gives back so much of himself to his fans.

I love Uncle Jerry too! One of my favorite eps was the Bobby Light video - Dirty Girl.

You are a lucky man!
