As You Wish: Free Princess Bride DVD

*UPDATED: Thanks to everyone who entered the giveaway! It was fun reading all your favorite quotes, so many classic lines in this movie. Also very cool to hear what songs topped your SPD playlist.

I particularly enjoyed the one non-contest related comment: "MUSICAL DAY PLEASE!" Patience "Anonymous 7:40 pm", patience. A musical day will come as soon as I catch up on the DVR and figure out what tunes have been played. Sorry for the delay.

I have, however, been watching a LOT of movies lately, all ranging from good (Into the Wild) to good lord that was amazing (No Country For Old Men), so maybe I'll write up some mini-reviews soon.

Anyway, without further adieu, the winners are....

Olivia (ohelpri1@jhu.edu) AND Jody (jodybear79@aol.com)!!

I'll be emailing you two shortly to get your shipping information. Thanks again for playing!

-------------

“Good heavens, are you still trying to win?” - Count Rugen

If you didn't win in the previous two contests, try once more with this post. Silly Pipe Dreams is teaming up again with M80 to give away TWO copies of one of my all-time favorite comedies, The Princess Bride.

20th Century Fox recently re-released the film on DVD for its 20th anniversary, updated with a ca-ra-zay ambigram cover and some extra bonus features. A mini-review of the re-release will be up soon.

And while we're all feeling nostalgic, this is kinda cool, check out Siskel & Ebert's original review of the movie here.

Anyway, contest instructions are below, good luck!

P.S. My favorite scene..

BUTTERCUP: You can die too for all I care.
[pushes Westley down a big hill]
WESTLEY (falling): As! You! Wish!
BUTTERCUP: Oh my sweet Westley, what have I done?
[throws herself down the big hill]

P.P.S. As an added bonus, here's a great song inspired by PB quotes:

MP3: "As You Wish" - Aqueduct
[buy album] [myspace] [more tracks]

THE INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Tell me your favorite Princess Bride quote, as well as your favorite song first introduced to you by Silly Pipe Dreams.
2. Post your answer by clicking on the 'COMMENTS' link at the bottom of this post. Those without Blogger accounts can always click 'Other' or 'Anonymous' when leaving a comment.
3. In your comment, leave your first name and your email address, so I can contact you if you win.
4. You have until 11:59 pm PT THIS Wednesday, Nov. 28 to leave a comment.
5. On Thursday, Nov. 29, I will pick at random two people from the comments who have left a proper answer, name and email.

Westley: Get used to disappointment.
Inigo Montoya: 'kay.

Like Lauren said, it's all in the delivery. :)

The Princess Bride! NO WAY!

My favourite quote is the one where Fezzik rhymes with everything being said. Simply because I have this thing for rhymes.

And favourite song? Oh... I think I'm going to go with the Whitlams. I think the song you posted was Blow Up The Pokies, and I've been obsessed with them ever since.

Just one favourite? So hard to choose... I guess I'd have to go with, "I just want you to feel you're doing well. I hate for people to die embarrassed."

And one of my favourites of the many, many songs I've been introduced to through your blog would be Dog Problems by The Format. It's one of those songs that always make me reach over and turn up the volume.

Thanks as always!

My favorite quote is when Fezzik and Inigo are rhyming and Vizzini says "No more rhyming now, I mean it!" and Fezzik says, "Anybody want a peanut?" That scene cracked me up so hard as a five year old kid and it still makes me laugh out of nostalgia.

My favorite song was one by The Weepies that you had on a New Year's playlist...the name is escaping me now, but I still listen to it a lot.

Thanks! Have a lovely week!

My favorite quote (copied from IMDB):

The Ancient Booer: "Your true love lives. And you marry another. True Love saved her in the Fire Swamp, and she treated it like garbage. And that's what she is, the Queen of Refuse. So bow down to her if you want, bow to her. Bow to the Queen of Slime, the Queen of Filth, the Queen of Putrescence. Boo. Boo. Rubbish. Filth. Slime. Muck. Boo. Boo. Boo."

Favorite Song: "Winter" Joshua Radin

Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

And is it cheating to go with the Aqueduct "As You Wish" song from this post? It's pretty awesome, especially the horns, and the quotes. Love it.

Favorite quote from the movie has to be the rhyming scene, ending in:
"Anybody want a peanut?" My sister and I still tease each other with this one.

First favorite song I learned about on your site: "Selfish Jean" by Travis. I've purchased a bunch more of their music now, so thanks!

I love your site and check it all the time... Kate

I love it when Wesley is fighting Fezzik. Just thought it was hysterical.

Westley: Look, are you just fiddling around with me or what?
Fezzik: I just want you to feel you're doing well. I hate for people to die embarrassed.

And I was hesitant to actually listen to Arcade Fire before you posted Rebellion. I had a friend who was obsessed and drove me crazy, so I refused to listen out of spite. So now I have to admit he's right, Arcade Fire is awesome.

And I completely agree with a poster above. Joshua Radin is amazing.

Ok so its tough to pick just one favorite quote but I'll go with:

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

And you introduced me to the Damnwells via "Kung Fu Grip Kiss" so thanks for that. One of many favorites.

My sister and I get the most mileage out of the "BOO! BOO! Rubbish!" line out of Buttercup's nightmare, obviously with the voice. Also being in library school, I enjoy Grandpa's "when I was your age, television was called books."

One of my favorite songs you've introduced me to is "Wild is the Wind" by the Second Band -- but I'm grateful for so many more song introductions in addition to that one, so thanks.

So many quotes to choose from! I'll submit one that hasn't been said yet:
"Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning."

So many songs to choose from, too! Lately I'm almost exclusively listening to The General Specific, by Band of Horses.

Thanks!

Hokay, so how about,

"I have some rope up here, but I do not think you would accept my help, since I am only waiting around to kill you."
"That does put a damper on our relationship."

and, you introduced me to The Weepies (back before "The World Goes Madly On" was played during the ending monologue of every show on television) and it led me to a deep and abiding love for them. So thanks for that. :)

Soooo hard to choose a favorite! When I was little I would perform a little monologue of Buttercup's over and over again ("Westley and I are joined by the bonds of love, and you cannot break that, not with a thousand swords, and you cannot track that, not with a thousand bloodhounds...") Needless to say my audience (i.e. my parents) was not that impressed.

But I think my absolute favorite quote has to be when Miracle Max threatens to call the brute squad:
Fezzik: I'm on the Brute Squad
Miracle Max: You ARE the Brute Squad

I love so much of the music you introduce us to, but the song I most associate with the site is "Life is a Song", from the final episode of The OC.

Favorite PB quote: So many to choose from, but I'm going to go with the priest's wedding monologue - "Wove. Twue wove..." That cracks me up every single time.

Favorite song introduced to me by the blog: Again, tough choice... I have to say the Postal Service remix of Feist's Mushaboom. I must say that I wasn't completely sold on that song (or Feist in general) before hearing what PS could do with it. Thanks, Sonny!

I love this movie! My brother and I used to watch this on VHS all the time. My favorite scene would have to be the sword fight between the Man in Black and Inigo Montoya. However, there are so many good quotes there, it's hard to pick. So I'll go with this quote from the grandson instead:

"Hold it, hold it. What is this? Are you trying to trick me? Where's the sports? Is this a kissing book?"

Favorite song introduced by SPD: Valentine by the Old 97's.

Hmmm... I would go with the classic "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." but I think its response, "Stop saying that," is also a tiny part of what makes it so awesome.

My favorite scene is probably the duel scene and the fact that Inigo waits to fight him and helps him up the cliff just kills me. So my favorite quote is...
INIGO MONTOYA: You seem a decent fellow. I hate to kill you.
WESTLEY: You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die.

The best song by far is Rebellion by Arcade Fire. I never fails to make me happy and it was how I found your site, which I love. I hope all is well with you, and thank you.

when Wesley and Buttercup first enter the Fire Swamp
