"Sunny": The Next Frontier

I promise the next post after this will be non-Sunny related and chock-full of mp3s. Pinky swear.

(Have you ever wondered who the eff started the pinky swear? What an incredibly strange way of establishing trust. I mean, I get the interlocking, a binding promise, etc, etc, but why the pinky? I need answers now.)

In the meantime, check out this Variety article about a new pilot the Sunny guys (Rob, Charlie and Glenn), just sold to Fox. It's called Boldly Going Nowhere, and it'll be a "single-camera half-hour...set in the future and focused on the mundane world of a spaceship captain when he's not on a mission."

The show idea came from the writers' assistant on It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Adam Stein, who is a super cool dude, and at a very young age, will have a "written and created by" credit under his belt. Huge congrats!

And in other news, Hulu.com opened to the public this week. Have you guys checked it out? The clip "cropping" feature is nifty. I'm currently watching old Dana Carvey Show episodes, you should too. It boasted maybe the most insanely talented writing staff ever: Dana Carvey, Louis C.K., Steve Carell, Dave Chappelle, Stephen Colbert, Robert Smigel, Spike Feresten, and freaking Charlie Kaufman, just to name a few.

Anyhooo, catch me up on your life in the comments!

Forecast: More "Sunny"

Hi friends. Thanks for all the nice comments this past week, really appreciate them.

I don't mean to turn the blog into a It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia fansite (well maybe a little), but I do have some more Sunny news.

The 4th season pickup of the show is now public news via Entertainment Weekly, and they also have a Q&A with the creator/writer/star of the show, Rob McElhenney. He offers a lot of details on what us writers have been up to this past week and what to expect in the upcoming season, so check it out now! No no, like right now, I'll wait...did you read the whole thing? I feel like that was fast, go back and read the whole thing. Ok, cool.

Now after that, if you've finished watching the three previous episodes I posted, check out three more below! That's all for now, talk soon. xoxo.

P.S. How excited are you to have Friday Night Lights back for another season?

P.P.S. If you're in Beverly Hills on June 30th, you might be excited to hear that the cast of "Sunny" has been added to the spring Paley Festival lineup.

It's Always SONNY In Philadelphia

I've received the above line via text message or email about 15 times since Friday. Why? Well first, my friends love puns. And second, my writing partner and I are now writers for the FX comedy It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia!

As usual, blogging has been sporadic lately, but not because of the Sonny Lee-laziness you all have grown to hate. No, it's been a hectic few weeks post-strike, filled with exec meetings, showrunner meetings, and lots of free water.

Last Monday, we had the pleasure of meeting with the three stars/writers/producers of Sunny, and a week later, today, we're starting our first day on staff. Holy awesomeness.

I couldn't be more excited, and it feels pretty amazing to start on a show that was already a favorite in my Facebook profile. I, along with legitimate critics, have been urging you to watch for a while, and now, I'll be reminding you to tune in much, MUCH more often. This'll be the fourth season, with the premiere date TBA.

You can check out all of Season One and Three on Hulu, but for you non-account holders, I've pasted my three favorite episodes below (OC-fans should definitely check out the Autumn Reeser episode).

Thanks to EVERYONE who's followed this blog, the lovers and the haters, as you both have helped keep my "silly pipe dreams" alive! I'll post again soon! (Probably not)
